Help County Parks meet our goals of Great facilities, Awesome programs, Strong organization and Effective stewardship! We are eager to share our knowledge and experiences, but also learn from our interns as valued team members.
The Community Engagement intern assists with developing and implementing the communications and marketing objectives of Santa Cruz County Park’s Engagement Team. Intern responsibilities include assisting with online marketing tools including website updates, e-newsletters and social media posts. Interns will play a major role in creating, editing, and designing graphics and resources.
The Fiscal/Administrative internship fosters local government experience and develops overall administrative and fiscal support skills. Interns may participate in accounts payable, expenditure tracking, certified payroll audits, communication with vendors, resolution of discrepancies, customer service, and process improvement.
Park Planning and Environmental Policy interns gain local government experience, planning experience and natural resource management skills. Interns may assist with grant applications, individual park and park system planning, and policy initiatives. Some tasks may involve working outside directly surveying the County’s parks as well as communicating with the public.
The Seniors Engagement intern will assist with developing and implementing a seniors phone survey in-line with the objectives of Santa Cruz County Park’s Engagement Team. The Seniors Engagement Internship responsibilities include assisting with development and implementation of a seniors phone survey, tracking responses, and providing data and informational graphs to the County Parks Engagement Team. Additionally, the Seniors Engagement intern will help analyze the responses and design possible seniors programming for County Parks.
The Volunteer Program Intern will develop skills to increase the visibility and numbers of volunteers in Santa Cruz County Parks. Interns will work directly with the Volunteer Coordinator and assist with all aspects of the program from recruiting new volunteers, marketing, promoting and creating new volunteer opportunities, training volunteers; all the while, conveying the organization’s purpose to the public.
