The Santa Cruz County Parks Little Guard program will provide your child with an understanding of the skills required to become aquatically proficient by emphasizing fun and physical fitness through a variety of activities specifically designed for children ages 5 & 6. All the sessions will consist of conditioning activities on land, swimming lessons and activities either in the Warm Water Pool or Splash Down pool, lifeguard demonstrations, and special activity days.
The Santa Cruz County Parks Junior Guards program will provide your child with an understanding of the skills required to become aquatically proficient emphasizing fun and physical fitness through a variety of activities. Under the supervision of our qualified and experienced instructors, your child will practice the skills necessary to become a successful lifeguard. All the sessions will consist of conditioning, lifeguard instruction, and special activity days. Conditioning will include swimming, running, calisthenics and team-building games, in addition to other physical activities.
The Junior Lifeguard Volunteer Program is designed for teens ages 14-16 who want to develop their leadership skills and gain valuable work experience while volunteering with the Junior Guards!

This clinic is designed to help prepare children specifically for the Santa Cruz County Parks Junior Guard swim test, and to improve their swimming skills for summer. Each clinic will consist of one hour of swimming each week, on Sunday, for three weeks; and will include working on skills such as freestyle, treading water, stroke development, comfortability in the water, and basic swim workout etiquette.
This program will introduce children, ages 6-12, to the game of water polo with noodles. This program provides a safe and learner-friendly environment where we teach the basics and, most importantly, have fun playing the game! Noodle Ball does require a certain amount of water competency.
Winter Water Warriors is designed to help children get comfortable in the water, engage in games; both in and out of the water, and enjoy exciting free play. This camp provides a safe, fun environment for kids to learn essential swimming skills during Winter and Spring break—especially important for parents who are working during this time.
